SEF Supplements the Academic Curriculum at all Eight SGUSD Schools
Our goal is to maintain the classes that have been lost due to budget cuts. Vital classes like Art and Music are no longer covered by the financial support the state provides our school district. SEF is positioned to fund staff for these classes.
K-3 Music Classes
SEF offers Music support at all levels of education. Starting with K-3rd grade Music class with Rachel Chew, students receive lessons in music appreciation. In 4th grade, SEF provides a recorder for each student to keep and practice with at home to support their note-reading lessons at school.

2 & 3rd grade Art Classes
One of the first "extras" that is usually cut when education cash runs low is Art.
SEF, in whole or in cooperation with each school's PTA/PTSA/PEP, is fortunate to engage Mr. Loya to teach Art concepts to the 2nd and 3rd grades at all 5 elementary schools in SGUSD. With Fund the Gap donations from the 2011-12 campaign, SEF is able to fully sponsor an academic Drama elective for our middle school students who are inclined to the theatrical arts. Lynn Clark, who also teaches English at JMS, is instructing our budding thespians this year.

Fee-based Classes and Activities
SEF has created successful short-duration after-school classes—taught by credentialed teachers—that are available for a fee. The intent is to make available some useful or fun extras and supplement funding for our in-school academic enrichment programs
